The Canal Saint-Denis, which is 6.6 km in length, links the canal T-junction beside Parc de la Villette to the downstream end of the Seine in the Seine-Saint-Denis département, 28 metres lower down in altitude terms. On the way, it passes through the 19th arrondissement and the towns of Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis. The canal, which comprises seven locks and six reaches (canal sections), is open to traffic 363 days a year.
